The Young Marines Summer Program has proven to be highly versatile, providing valuable lessons on a variety of essential skills. Participants learned proper grooming techniques, including hair care for female members, as well as the respectful procedure for retiring damaged flags. Throughout the program, they were also instilled with the significance of patriotism and the importance of honoring their country.

Our Young Marines Career Fridays were a huge success! Thank you to our military service men and women, both veteran and currently active, who came to speak to our Young Marines about the diverse career opportunities within the armed forces. Thank you Master Sergeant Portugal, Petty Officer Second Class Chucaralao, ME2 Adam San Miguel, Gunner’s Mate 1st Class De Fazio, and Captain Carlos Pereira for sharing your experiences and pictures with our Young Marines!

We’re excited to kick off our 4th Annual Summer Program with 85 Young Marines enrolled with the help of the Union City High School MCJROTC cadets. This program helps our students build self-confidence, promote leadership skills, excel academically, honor veterans, and the importance of helping our community while promoting the mental, moral, and physical development of our Young Marines.

On June 19th, we celebrate the 160th Anniversary of the end of slavery in 1865 in the United States, which is known today as Juneteenth. It is a combination of the month of 'June' and the 'nineteenth' day that commemorates the happy news of newly-freed slaves in Texas at the end of the Civil War.

The Union Hill, Emerson, Union City High School, José Martí STEM Academy JROTC and Young Marine Cadets received private tours of Active Duty US Naval Battleships during Fleet Week. It was a wonderful experience for everyone involved.
