Congratulations to our talented and persistent career-bound seniors, who attended the FCCLA national leadership conference recently in San Diego, California.
Kathleen Barragan competed in the ‘Fashion Construction STAR’ event after having placed First in the State of New Jersey at the State Leadership Conference in November 2021 (hosted in Cherry Hill NJ) which catapulted her standing to compete at the national level. Katherine Ocampo also placed First in the state at the state level only.
She was asked to compete with an entirely new project for the state competition as the judges were so impressed with her work in that category.
She was tasked to make an entire new, advanced category assignment to compete and here she is as "Interior Design STAR" with event competitors from New Jersey as they finished in first place overall among other representatives in their categories.
We are so proud to have two outstanding career bound students representing the Union City, New Jersey School District and our state.
They will both be attending the Fashion Institute of technology in the Fall as first time applicants.
The Fashion Institute of Technology is a college with a 55% acceptance rate, so this is very impressive.

Katherine se colocó en el Top 10 en los Estados Unidos para el Diseño de Interiores y el Primer Lugar de Oro en general para el Estado de Nueva Jersey, mientras que la competencia en San Diego. Kathleen también obtuvo el primer lugar de oro para el estado de Nueva Jersey.

Se le pidió que hiciera un trabajo completamente nuevo, de categoría avanzada, para competir y aquí está como "Interior Design STAR" con los competidores del evento de Nueva Jersey, ya que terminaron en el primer lugar general entre otros representantes en sus categorías.
Estamos muy orgullosos de tener dos estudiantes sobresalientes que representan al Distrito Escolar de Union City, Nueva Jersey y nuestro estado.
Ambos asistirán al Fashion Institute of Technology en otoño como primeros solicitantes.
Esta es una universidad con una tasa de aceptación del 55%, por lo que es muy impresionante.
