Playing Different SportsThe Union City Board of Education is committed to the total development of every child. Physical Educators realize that attention to a child’s physical wellness is essential for life long health. All facets of the curriculum will seek to meet each student’s individual needs resulting in a program of progressive, developmental sport skills, fitness levels, and socialization. The learning environment will seek to provide experiences through mental and physical activities that will carry over through adult life.

SPECIALIZED GOALS OF HEALTH EDUCATION

1.     To know that total health includes all aspects of a person’s physical, emotional, intellectual, and social well being.
2.     To appreciate that health is the right and responsibility of every individual and the community.
3.    To realize that health professionals can’t solve health problems without the support of individuals and the community.
4.    To understand that many health problems can be prevented by healthy habits.
5.    To appreciate the impact of the individual, the family, and the community on environmental health.
6.    To understand the structure and functions of the human body and patterns of healthy growth and development.
7.    To choose to practice healthful behaviors and promote well–being and to avoid risky behaviors.

1.    To improve overall health by increasing
a.    Cardiovascular vitality
b.    Muscular strength and flexibility
c.    Active life-style habits
d.    A functional knowledge of physical activities

2.  To demonstrate responsible personal and social behavior in physical activity settings.

3.  To understand that physical activities provides opportunities for enjoyment, challenge, self-expression, and social interaction
